The ‘perfect’ plan doesn’t include perfection
Here’s a harsh truth - you cannot plan ‘perfection’.
Life throws curveballs, weather happens, but you are GLORIOUS and nothing can stop us from celebrating. I guarantee it! and Im giving you the hot tips to wrangle those big feelings in case things don’t go 100% to plan. Deep breaths, read on…
ALWAYS have a plan B ceremony location. No matter what month or season you’re marrying in. Rain happens, severe heat happens sometimes too.
Celebrants sound equipment and photography gear can’t be out in the wet - more importantly, you and your guests deserve the comfort of a dry ceremony. People sometimes say things like “we don’t care if the guests are sitting in the rain, it wont be for long”, but like it or not if your guests are uncomfortable it will KILL your vibe. The same goes for extreme heat, I’ve seen a few fainters in my time in the wedding industry, it happens more than you think in the sun.
So whatever venue you choose, if your ceremony space is outside be sure to check what the indoor options are and whether or not you’ll be okay with it should you need to move to Plan B
Be flexible. Rainy day weddings have their own kind of moody magic.
Choose a seasoned team of vendors.
Technology fails, seasoned pros will know how to work on the fly. I myself have 2 backup microphones and a printed script should the digital copy on my kindle fail. It hasnt happened yet, but Im always prepared.
Your wedding pros have your back. We are always looking out for you, we smooth the hiccups before you know about them, we bring the energy up and we won’t let anything bad happen.
Lean into the unscripted moments.
Your dog poops in the aisle. Your accidentally mash your words when reading your vows. A veil flies off in the wind (all true stories). Whatever it is, just laugh it off. Your wedding is not a staged production, its an authentic event happening in real time. In my experience, those little wayward moments only add more smiles, more fun and more connection.
Don’t let the little things get under your skin, your attitude is everything. As for everyone else, they are there to have fun with you - we are all cheering you on.
There is nothing can get wildly out of hand when you are surrounded by people who care about you, that includes me. Dont stress over things you can’t control, just adapt and I promise you will have the time of your life
