Jake and Lettys beginning reads like a teen romcom –
Girl sees boy at footy training. Boy believes small town gossip that girls from Manangatang are…inbred.
Still, the next few weeks are filled with stolen glances and coy smiles between them both before girl reveals she’s from Robinvale, which is much cooler, and leads to their awkward, but very cute, first kiss.
Letty said Jake was the kind of guy everyone is friends with. He was totally cool and she says even though her eyesight is appalling, she could tell he was very handsome.
She slipped over to Jakes MySpace page, a true indication of this relationships vintage, and sent him a message where they nervously chatted back and forth.
Letty was so different to any of the girls Jake knew. She was shy, but confident within herself. She was an authentic, down to earth, small town girl with huge plans; and he loved listening to her speak passionately about art and music.
Lettys nana Joan has always told her “you can tell a lot about a person by the way they treat animals” and its something that has stuck with her ever since.
One of the first things she fell in love with was Jakes compassion and kindness towards all living things, and with Nans words running through her mind she knew she had found a keeper.
Together they love to kick back on the couch and watch footy or spend a weekend binging a TV show.
They lived abroad spending two years in England before heading to the Galapagos Islands as volunteers, living with a lovely Spanish family who didn’t speak a word of English.
They flew back to England where they spent 3 months camping around Europe with absolutely no money, drinking boxed wine and relying on an amazing piece of machinery - a little ’99 red micra to get them to the next destination. It was one of the best experiences of their lives.
Knowing they could thrive together out there in the wild without any cash or comforts only solidified what they already knew; that they can get through anything.
Back in September of 2014, for Sherry, finding an eligible bachelor in Melbourne was like panning for gold…if the dirt your sifting through also murmurs shitty pickup lines and tries to flash you…until finally she found something shiny.
Tom was funny, chill and had a really cool, eclectic taste in music. Sherry said he was unlike any guy she had ever met, what with him being kind of exotic coming from Perth and all.
He double dared her to get a coffee with him and she agreed.
Like Sherry sifting for gold, Tom had also longed for a ‘normie’ and to him, Sherry didn’t seem too weird.
He said she was very cute and easy to talk to.
Their second date came just days later with a baptism by fire when Tom met a few of Sherrys friends for a night out at Pony; a popular, albeit sticky, Melbourne nightspot.
With a crisp fifty dollar note that Sherry found on the ground, she paid for their entry to the club and a couple gin and tonics.
They punished that dancefloor and later on with a belly full of liquid courage, came together for their very first kiss.

Quiet evenings in 2016 for singles, were often spent doing a little window shopping on tinder.
Olivia comes across a profile with an obscure Simpsons reference as a profile picture and she immediately unleashes the greatest digital declaration of interest: the coveted ‘super like’.
And thus began the ultimate swipe right success story.
Liv suggests they meet at a local bar for a drink on the Sunday that happened to follow James’ birthday earlier that same week.
He wandered in, still dusty as fuck from Friday night celebrations but once he spots the cute red head waiting for him at the bar, decides to chance a beer on his two day hangover.
When Liv turns to see James approaching she begins her nervous mantra of “oh shit oh shit oh shit”
The attraction was instant, the conversation was effortless and what came next was happiness, trust, a whole lot of laughs and an everlasting sense of knowing that they couldn’t and wouldn’t imagine their lives apart.
This rang true even on one of those earlier dates when the pair ran into one of James’ friends, Dave, it was to be the very first time Liv would meet someone in his circle but it seemed James briefly forgot Olivias name when it came to introducing her.
However, the simple fact was that James and whatsherface fell in love hard and fast and without ever second guessing it.
